2026 PAC and Outside Spending by Candidate
Campaign-finance records describe reported financial activity. Their meaning depends on the committee, reporting period, transaction type and filing version—not just the size of a headline number.
Receipts describe money coming into a reporting entity. Disbursements describe money going out. Cash on hand is a balance at a particular reporting date, and debts are obligations reported under the relevant rules. These figures are not interchangeable. A committee can have activity in more than one cycle, so a comparison needs matching dates and the same type of reporting entity.
Campaign reports cover stated periods and can later be amended. A recently imported file is not necessarily a report about recent activity. Look for the coverage-through date as well as the date Electionpedia checked or imported the source. When a source identifies a replacement or amendment, adding every version together can overstate the underlying activity.
Read the full campaign money guide →Independent expenditures are outside spending, not candidate receipts. Electionpedia preserves the position the spender reported to the FEC and keeps support, opposition, and unclassified records separate.
These rows exceed the amount threshold, conflict with the candidate’s reported office, or have no named spender in the connected FEC registry. Original amounts and identifiers remain available for review. This flag does not establish wrongdoing.
Inspect the source rows and reasons →Search the filer-supplied purpose, payee, amount, dates, candidate, position, and original filing. A finance row is not presented as an ad creative.
The FEC defines these expenditures as expressly advocating the election or defeat of a clearly identified candidate without coordination. They are not added to the candidate’s campaign receipts.
“Support” and “oppose” reproduce the spender’s filing. Electionpedia does not infer intent from a committee name, party, payee, or dollar amount.
Rows from superseded filings are removed through the FEC previous-filing chain so amended versions are not silently double-counted.
